Join Randy Henderson, host of CBC North Radio One’s The Trail Breaker, when he introduces Putting for Literacy at the Javaroma Coffee Shop in Yellowknife, May 17, 2004 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am. Putting for Literacy is a fundraiser for the NWT Literacy Council.

A toonie will buy you a putt against one of the four celebrities in attendance: Shelagh Rogers, host of CBC Radio’s Sounds Like Canada, Rick Mercer, star of Rick Mercer’s Monday Report, Alison Gzowski, daughter of legend and founder of the Peter Gzowski Invitational Golf Tournament and Jonathan Torrens, star of Trailer Park Boys and past host of CBC’s Jonovision and Street Cents.

There will be music by blues harpist Mike Stevens, local guitarists John Tees and George Tuccaro. As well, CBC North will be serving free cake donated by the Yellowknife Direct Charge Co-op.

The golf extravaganza costs only a toonie but people are encouraged to donate more to the NWT Literacy Council.

Every year the Peter Gzowski Invitational Golf Tournament (PGI) raises funds across Canada to support literacy activities. The celebrity guests of the Putting for Literacy fundraiser are on their way to the Holman PGI event, May 18-20, 2004.
