Family Literacy News

Over the past several years we have seen tremendous growth in the delivery of family literacy programs. Communities are developing and delivering family literacy programs to meet the needs of their community. The NWT Literacy Council would like to recognize the efforts of those who are working to improve the quality of life for people in their community.

Family literacy is happening everywhere! Last year almost every community in the NWT ran some type of family literacy program. Family literacy in not just about English literacy. The beauty of family literacy is that it can be done in any language or culture. For example, Holman has developed Inuinnaqtun Fun Packs for families to use and does the 1-2-3 Rhyme With Me in both English and Inuinnaqtun.

Keep up the good work!

To make the newsletter successful - we need information and pictures on the programs you are running in your community. Please contact us at 873-9262 or email Lisa at lisa@nwtliteracy.ca

This is a great way to share information with other communities!
