Family Literacy in Fort ProvidenceWalk through the halls at Deh Gah School, into the band office, the Northern Store or the Snowshoe Inn and you will see people who got caught reading. Posters of Fort Providence readers can be found every where in town. “Get Caught Reading” is just one way that Family Literacy Coordinator Aline Gargan promotes literacy in her community. What's Inside
There are Family Literacy Nights for parents and children, Slavey bingo
with the Elders, rhymes and songs at the preschool, lunch time reading
with elementary school students, Books in the Home with students at
the Learning Centre and special events like Mystery Readers on the radio.
Great work Aline! |
