Summer is a great time to do different family literacy activities at home or when traveling.

You can:

• Sing songs on road trips or buy a book on tape
  
  
• Take pictures of your vacation and make a family book
  
  
• Take a book to the beach
  
  
• Sign up for the library reading program
  
  
• Tell family stories around the campfire
  
  
• Teach your children a new word in your first language each day
  
  
• Play I spy in your first language
  
  
• Spend time with Elders and learn about the past
