A Message from the Executive DirectorWhat's InsideAs you probably have heard, the NWT Literacy Council lost all of its federal funding as part of the recent cuts announced by the federal Conservative government. (more details on Page 2) We have been working with other provincial and territorial literacy coalitions to protest these cuts and to find ways to make the case for literacy to the federal government. We have also been meeting with territorial politicians and senior government officials to explore new funding sources for the programs and services that have been impacted by the federal cuts. We need your help as well. On Page 2 of this issue of Literacy Matters, there is information about our Postcards of Protest Campaign. Please take the time to let your voice be heard and ask that these shortsighted cuts be reversed. This is a critical time for literacy. The NWTLC will continue to support and promote literacy development in the NWT to the best of our ability. We are counting on your support in helping us meet this challenge.
